Platform
Built for the next vertical, not just cranes
A multi-week pivot turned the platform from "crane monitoring" into "asset monitoring" — same schema, same ingest, ready for galv baths and beyond without a rewrite.
Pointnode launched on cranes (under the craneIQ product line) but the platform was always going to need to span more industrial verticals. A pass across the schema and the chrome landed in early May to make that real.
What changed
- Every
crane_*column and table renamed toasset_*. The database now models a generic asset type taxonomy with cranes as the first row in it; adding a galvanising bath, a press brake, or a CNC mill is a row insert plus a widget pack, not a schema migration. - MQTT topic prefixes read from the asset-type table, not hardcoded. The ingest accepts the new prefix the moment a new vertical opens.
- The product chrome is Pointnode end-to-end; craneIQ remains the first product line on it, including the iOS Guard app.
- Per-vertical billing — Guard (the safety-check product) is available only on cranes; new verticals can ship without a Guard equivalent.
No customer-facing change to your existing crane dashboards. New industries will appear in the Asset type picker as we open them.
